Located halfway between the well-known resorts of Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, on an empty 10-mile stretch of golden beach edged by lagoons and palm trees, Punta Perula has so far completely escaped the notice of mass tourism, despite being only 70 miles South of Puerto Vallarta’s international airport . Only a very small number of conoscenti come back every Winter, year after year, for the abundant fishing in the bay – and they don’t divulge the secret.

The villagers are fishermen and farmers, but there are a few small hotels, offering basic but adequate accommodation, and several restaurants offering freshly-caught fish.
In the bay, and only a short boat ride from the beach, lie five small deserted islands of great natural beauty.
